Chi-Town Pulse

Friday, March 19th, 2010

I started swing dancing in college. It’s been great as a social activity, a form of exercise, and even as a method of introducing me to new music. Moving to Chicago gave me the opportunity to really explore the blues. The local blues community, though small, is passionate.

Recently, a member of the community created the short fictional film Chi-Town Pulse, which is set in the Chicago blues dance scene. They had their first public showing at a red carpet premiere recently, and I was asked to assist with photography. Special thanks to Keir for letting me try out his new 50/1.2L lens for the night (thus, all of these were taken with that lens 🙂

Here are some shots from the night:

Nate & Bethany

Saturday, September 26th, 2009

We recently got married as well 🙂 which explains the delay in posting. But now I’m ready to get back on schedule!

I met Bethany a few years ago though some photographer friends. So when she and Nate asked us to photograph them, we knew we’d have to be on top of our game! Fortunately for us, their fun-loving attitude put us at ease. We had an engagement session with them last fall and we’ve been looking forward to their wedding ever since!

First some details: here is her beautiful dress, and Nate’s grandfather’s cufflinks

… and of course they were excited! They’re both swing dancers so they got the moves
