Describe the proposal.
When David and Maggie left with her brother, Andy, on their biannual trip to see Maggie’s mom’s side of the family, she had no idea what was in store. After a few days of typical visiting and typical family fun, Maggie was enjoying a typical night after a typical dinner in Michigan.. which is why she was so surprised when her Aunt Susan presented her and David with 2 very nicely-wrapped presents.
David volunteered to let Maggie open hers first. Still perplexed at why she was getting a gift on July 30 (almost 5 months from both her birthday and Christmas), she became quickly more confused when she opened the first box to find another box inside.. and another box inside that one.. and another box inside that one.. and.. you get the picture.
Finally, she pulled out a beautiful white box wrapped in tissue paper– which David intercepted saying, “I know what this is.” At this point, Maggie was still confused; for only minutes before she was just relaxing on a normal night with her family watching the Discovery Channel. Why were her brother, Uncle Mike, Aunt Susan, and Gramma taking pictures? And smiling? And how would David know what was in a white box that her aunt was giving her?
It all made sense, however, when David pulled out the ring box and dropped to one knee.
“Maggie,” he said, “I’ve loved you since day one. Will you marry me?”
Maggie froze in both shock and joy. Though she had immediately said “yes,” she was still hesitant to put the ring on. She had known from the first day she started dating her best friend that she wanted to marry him; she just couldn’t believe it was happening. God had just allowed her biggest dream to come true.

Three adjectives that described your wedding day are:
Joyful, Thrilling, Christ-centered

What was the design inspiration for your wedding?
We wanted a traditional wedding with fun, creative, and personalized elements. We kept things simple and add little details that made it truly ‘us.’

What was your favorite design element of your big day?
We picked a difficult color scheme to plan according to, but we loved how everything came together so beautifully in the end. From the flowers… to the wax seal… to the stain glass of the chapel…to the groom’s grandmother’s dress… everything was coordinated and looked lovely together. It was well worth the effort.

Our favorite detail of the wedding was:
What a tough question! It’s a toss-up between the guest card table (which we covered in coffee beans, candles, and tiny calla lily adorned place cards) and the programs (which included ‘our story’ and little biographies of the wedding party, whom we cherish so much).

If you could do anything different what would it be?
David- “…make sure my best man didn’t lock my keys in my car before I left for the ceremony that morning…”
