We recently lost our cat, Mochi. She was about two years old and died suddenly. We mourned her death, but knew we needed a playmate for our other kitten, Havarti. So we went to the Orphans of the Storm animal shelter in Riverwoods, Illinois, and there we found this sweet little kitten. She is 10 weeks old in this photo. I loved her perfectly symmetrical facial markings. The white around her eyes is perfect and we knew she would be a very photogenic kitten! We named her Horchata after the Mexican rice milk drink flavored with a cinnamon. It’s my favorite! There will be many more photos to come, you can count on that!

Friday, March 19th, 2010I started swing dancing in college. It’s been great as a social activity, a form of exercise, and even as a method of introducing me to new music. Moving to Chicago gave me the opportunity to really explore the blues. The local blues community, though small, is passionate.
Recently, a member of the community created the short fictional film Chi-Town Pulse, which is set in the Chicago blues dance scene. They had their first public showing at a red carpet premiere recently, and I was asked to assist with photography. Special thanks to Keir for letting me try out his new 50/1.2L lens for the night (thus, all of these were taken with that lens
Here are some shots from the night:
Happy St. Pattys!
Saturday, March 13th, 2010St. Patrick’s Day may be in a few days, but here in Chicago, we start celebrating early! On the closest Saturday before the holiday, they hold a parade and dye the river green. While you may notice that the water is green all the time, this is beyond that. It really is neon.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
